Radiocaster: @NotGodOkay: Showing appreciation for an identity isn't "political" and neither is a flag that represents that proudness. Have you considered that the only one making things political is you?
meow_moment: @NotGodOkay: Yeah, if just seeing a trans flag is 'too political' for you, you may need to re-examine your biases. I'm not trying to start a debate or spread propaganda or anything, I just thought some of her experiences were relatable to myself as a trans woman and wanted to show appreciation for a trans reading of her.
NotGodOkay: Fine it's not political.
But as I see it it's just not needed to have 2 genders at the same time to be happy. Having sadness over having just 1 gender is weak and those people should learn to be happy with what they have cause in the end you're just gonna ask for more that you'll never get.
Radiocaster: @NotGodOkay: With all due respect, this is not the place for this discussion, and your accusation of brainwashing leads me to believe you aren't interested in a measured discussion anyway. Save us trouble and let us all do something better with our time.
Kazerad: Oh no, am I going to have to do moderating? That is like the worst part of being a moderator.
I've seen very strong explanations from trans people about how Katia's struggles closely parallel their own, and while not intentional, it is something I can completely understand and see the parallels in. Functionally I wouldn't say it's too far removed from, say, one of the many drawings of Katia wearing Egyptian regalia because she and Bast are both anthropomorphic cats. You could validly say that she is not Egyptian, and the story/setting firmly establish she doesn't even know what Egyptian deities are, but it doesn't lessen the parallel for those of us who recognize it.
Moderation is difficult because I know if I explicitly say "this is fine", there's going to be people posting drawings of Katia waving various flags just to see which ones get removed as to ascertain where the exact line is. I can understand where this particular one is coming from, though, and don't think it's a place of malice or provocation, which is really the only thing I care about. I want to leave room for people to be gently political or disagree with one another because I think that is how people learn about others; like, NotGod's description of transpeople as greedily hoarding all the genders suggests a likely different view of the topic that someone like the artist probably has. At the same time though I probably should intervene and say accusations like "brainwashing" are too far, and that any discussion should be kept cordial and under the assumption that others are in equally capable and only differ in experiences/perspectives?
I want everyone to get along well enough that I don't have to make actual rules, at least periodically removing the occasional piece of hardcore pornography.
TheGibusGuy: If seeing the recent comments getting filled up with drama is a bit exhausting for you, you could try this tool I made: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/cdmbjnapkjmjnbcjgnbmcoalkkfcihih?utm_source=item-share-cb
Radiocaster: He should always remember that there's a convenient previewer tool at the side of the page that seems to work pretty well... most of the time Do you smell something burning?
NewFace: Oh, yeah, so much for the tolerant left, smh. Just goes to show how hypocritical people are nowadays, that they'll express negative opinions about some things while not expressing the same negative opinions about other, different things.
Also this comment section doesn't have downvotes, go back to reddit if you want to complain about how people don't share your devotion to random reality TV stars.
Zeadyaer: @NewFace//e926.net/posts/5426719?q=filthypally Here's my proof, I'm only stating a fact. Also, I didn't insult you when I made my observation, do me the same courtesy eh?
NewFace: I'm not sure what I said that made you think I disputed your claim "Prequel fans tend not to like MAGA very much", but if my comment about reality TV stars hurt your feelings then I humbly apologize.
RedApprentice: @Kazerad: I made an account just to say that I do not envy your position. I believe that any discussion about what is and isn't political or what is and isn't cordial must necessarily evolve into a discussion about what beliefs are and aren't true. Kazerad, I don't believe there is any way to justify moderator action here without explicitly disagreeing with one of the people here.
Hmm. I don't know what else to say here. I definitely don't envy your position.
GrizzlyBear: @RedApprentice: Moderator action doesn’t and shouldn’t determine whose opinions were right or wrong, just who was being a dick about it. We’re free to argue and challenge each other’s views if we can be civil and not throw insults around. Kaz may have given his own opinion, but ultimately we can each think what we want to think about it, and are free to express it in a friendly manner
Makkon: I'm disappointed but not surprised to see transphobic sentiment in this comment section. I hope you can grow up, have life experiences, meet people who are different from you, and see how much you share in the human experience. Katia says Trans Rights.
Filthypaladin: Don't attack this person. I know the flag has certain connotations, but I doubt this individual is posting in ill intent or to be provocative. I sense an honest expression here, not of hate.
