AMKitsune: Is the animation meant to progress at about 1 frame per second? Just seems a little odd considering Kazerad's usual 'frame rate range'.
Also, I legit thought this was Katia to begin with. The bartender never smiles! (I bet you thought I was being racist for a moment there, eh?)

AMKitsune: I've just been going through some of the older submissions while testing a thing and found this.
How does it have no comments? Seriously!

This is practically the definition of wholesome pleasure

AMKitsune: Now I'm trying to imagine what rpg battle music would work best here. The 'over the shoulder' perspective makes me think pokemon, but the positions of the health bars and icon based attack options kind of negate that train of thought.

AMKitsune: @Streetwind: "Oh stop moping Katia. You've had stickers, postcards, a poster, shirts and candy. She's had an off-brand cereal deal."

AMKitsune: It's a good thing this seems to be a desert environment, because can you imagine how strong the wet cat smell would be if it rained?

I also hold the firm belief that this place would have designated 'napping in the sun' areas where the people congregate to just stretch out and sleep under the midday sun.
Like a siesta, but more feline in nature.

AMKitsune: Katia and her stand, Simply the Best.(Because, you know, Dark Elf)

- Reply
AMKitsune: Why 'are you a snek'?
Or why 'do you technically have two tails'?
Because it's apparently the in-thing at the moment, and I have no idea.

AMKitsune: @Rick2tails: How so? The mere presence of 'tribalesque imagery' doesn't make something racist. If that were the case, donkey kong country returns would have been a PR disaster for Nintendo!

AMKitsune: But could this style truly capture the soul wrenching misery that is the 'sad cat'?
You know, the kind when Katia feels like she's lost everything and is huddled up in a ball of tears.
I bet this style couldn't effectively portray that!

For 'happy cat' however, the style's pretty spot on.

AMKitsune: If there's one thing better than a successful cat, it's an adorably successful cat!

AMKitsune: All in all, I really like this (much like the artists other uploads).
I kind of have to agree with Geravinds point about her head being a little flat though.

It's not much, but I feel that her head being slightly taller helps round it out a bit more.

Anyway, that aside, what's the story behind this piece?
I like to imagine Katia's attending her first day at the arcane university but wasn't sure what to wear, so she asked around beforehand for what typical university students look like. She repeatedly neglected to mention the 'arcane' part.

AMKitsune: @BlackMessa: I'm not suggesting that she just ran and jumped from the edge, but launched herself at high speed from a nearby wall after building up speed from an infinite fall loop for a while...

Wait a minute, are you trying to steal Aperture Science research? As to be expected from one of their largest competitors...

AMKitsune: @NothingShortOfBurning: The way you drew and animated the fires really makes this feel like something straight out of the comic.

As far as critique goes, I'd have to suggest looking into things like her pose and proportions.
In this case, her legs being as close together as they are seem to suggest a somewhat calm and collected mood which contradicts her arms energetic, celebratory pose. I'd probably suggest for her to stand with a slightly wider stance.

Secondly, her legs feel a little shorter than they should be relative to her torso. (of her torso's a little longer compared to her legs. I'm not really good enough at this to say for certain XD). Lengthening her legs a bit and moving her knee-pad things to about knee height should help with that.

Thirdly, given the prominence/importance of fire and light in this picture, I'd personally suggest making the flames a little brighter. This is purely a personal opinion though, as I tend to prefer higher contrast in scenes like this. Make of that what you will.

Finally, continuing on the subject of light, given how much fire is in the image, Katia looks pretty much unlit by any or it. A little rim highlighting could help convey the intensity (and direction) of the light given off by the building in front of her.
If the light source was more singular in nature, I might also suggest having it cast a shadow behind Katia, but that wouldn't work too well in this situation and with this art style.

That's about it really. All in all this is pretty good rendition of a scene that I'm sure many of us would be happy to see come to pass XD.

(Sorry about the rushed edit job. Hopefully it gets my points across well enough)

AMKitsune: The situation may look bad, but we have no idea how much horizontal velocity she currently has.
She looks pretty happy though, so she's probably flying through there! Remember that in relation to portals, speedy cat goes in, speedy cat comes out.

AMKitsune: Proof positive that little Katia is a precious treasure.

AMKitsune: @bluedraggy: Or an overly frothed pint of milk.
Ah, who are we kidding? It's booze and it's not going to end well for her.

- Reply
AMKitsune: When I saw the thumbnail for this, I actually thought Katia was just extremely desaturated shade of her normal colour.
My brain's so used to seeing her in colour, it tried its best to fill in what it expected to see!

AMKitsune: Well that's one way of dealing with Dagon

Just after I uploaded my own, vastly inferior version to imgur, I refresh the booru only to find that you've uploaded a fully shaded version complete with custom background.
Well played Bluedraggy. Very well played indeed.

AMKitsune: @Mezhik: Isn't everything questionable when you really think about it? An exposed ankle here, a sideways glance there. Instead of struggling with what is and isn't on a case by case basis, it's easier to just lower the bar to the point where everything is. Problem solved

AMKitsune: @PermanentFace: In fairness, that scene did take place over 6 years ago (god that's a weird thought)

AMKitsune: If you want a vector image with truley smooth curves and sharp corners, I think you're going to have to trace it manually. Unless automatic tracing has developed features that I'm not aware of (which in fairness, is very possible), a trace is either going to to allow for smooth curves but also smooth out the corners or maintain the sharp corners but end up with jagged likes along the curves. Also, trying to trace an entire (lineart and colours) image at once doesn't seem to work out too well either. If you still want to try tracing the image programaticly, I'd suggest trying to extract the lineart so that you're just tracing black lines on a white background. Hopefully then, the trace will be able to produce a nice, pure set of lines without any unwanted 'anti-aliasing' artefacts.

I haven't vector traced in years though (and never done a particularly good job of it), so these aren't particularly well informed suggestions. Make of them what you will.

AMKitsune: @PermanentFace: As far as I'm concerned, it started getting out of hand when the original picture of Katia could no longer been seen in these new versions.

As Radian says, perhaps it is indeed time to stop? After all, to quote a Daedric fun tip,

AMKitsune: Nice little runner(?) game here.
One thing though if I may. While the beginning of the game is fine, as it speeds up, the framerate of 24fps can make the obstacle movement feel choppy and harder to react to than it otherwise could be. Now, I don't know whether in this case the framerate is limited by the game engine you're using of by flash's performance, but for reaction based games like this, generally speaking the higher the achievable framerate, the better. 60's generally considered the ideal 'goal' for game fps, but even 30 (an increase of 6) would probably yield some noticeable difference. Just a little something to consider for next time.
