This was inspired by semiafr007 who drew a giant Quill some time ago and now has drawn a giant Katia. Making the two battle was the only logical thing to do.

Zargothrax: Tempintel is the unsung hero of the collaboration. The chain of Katias could not be connected, because there was a Katia who required a brush being held really low to be painted on. So, he drew a Katia that held the brush low, but could be painted on high (on the foot), so that it could be connected with the previous one. <salutes>

bluedraggy: Thank you EVER so much for the detailed explanation Zargo! TBH I understand probably about 90% of this - but that's good! Certain things tell me I'm moving ine right direction. Also the 'nude' in the top left under the clothes REALLY helps to understand why drawing that helps inform the drawing of the clothes on top, and most importantly the wrinkles of them. Because that's where the real artistry of this is. Those folds are to die for.

KuroNeko: Wow, that's cool of you to share your method. It's pretty interesting (though way above my curent level in terms of digital coloring)
One of these day I should try to spend as much time as you do fixing all the tiny details in the sketch to make sure everything is perfect. I'm usually way too impatient.

TempIntel: Thanks, I love when artists explain how and why they chose the elements to include. I find it a little amusing that artists spend alot of time on getting the anatomy just right, only to draw clothes over all the details. It does help you understand what is going on underneath and how clothes stretch and fold. Your kat had the best pose out of the chain, well done!

Zargothrax: @bluedraggy: Aw, you're too kind. As for the techniques used, painting shadows on a blank mask is a well known technique I can recommend. Calculating the lights from that with the curve functions on the other hand is something I came up with mid-drawing, so I wouldn't really call that a reputable technique, use with caution.

@KuroNeko: Well, maybe someone can point out something to improve upon it! As for perfecting a drawing, it's good to do from time to time. Emphasis on that though. Compare how many uploads you have, compared to me. I'm not an example to follow when it comes to balancing out when to move on. I'm quite "tense" when it comes to drawing. If something looks off, it's not good enough, I can't look past it. Loosening up somehow would be nice.
