AMKitsune: Awesome comparison. I can't help but think though: back in her earlier days, the fire was less in her hands, and more everywhere else.

- Reply
AMKitsune: This is extremely unrepresentative of the comic...
She looks so happy! I love it!

- Reply
AMKitsune: @KuroNeko: She's clearly embarrassed at being called adorable (and other similar compliments).

- Reply
AMKitsune: The in-browser flash player may be dead, but the prequel animations and games aren't. (We've been preparing for this)

- Reply
AMKitsune: Absolutely precious.

- Reply
AMKitsune: @_Noxygen_: About an hour I think. He was really quite fast.

AMKitsune: An adorable piece by Diorum, kindly drawn at request during a triple art-stream between himself, Cider and Kazerad.
The request was something along the lines of "Katia wrapped up in a puffy blanket, all warm and snug"

- Reply
AMKitsune: @freynk03: I've had an html version of it in the pipeline for months now. I've just been waiting for Kaz to give the questions in it a read over. I should prompt him to do that at some point...

- Reply
AMKitsune: @Zargothrax: That's a pretty good idea. I think I'll take it.

- Reply
AMKitsune: I have no idea what it says on her hood, but this is quite possibly one of the best realistic cat Katia's I've ever seen (in regards to being highly detailed, well composed, and on model).

- Reply
AMKitsune: That is some really nice pixel art, and the animation is just bouncy enough to give some good secondary motion without going overboard. Fantastic stuff!

- Reply
AMKitsune: The fact that Quill's a 'dragon in training' implies that she should know 'exactly' what that says, yet she couldn't seem to care less .

- Reply
AMKitsune: @Katia_super_cat: "No sweetie, we have magic at home."
The magic at home: A tattered old box of 'Amazing Andy's Magic-like Tricks for the Arcanely Challenged'.

- Reply
AMKitsune: I'd like to hope that everyone could put aside the age old 'pineapple on pizza' rivalry for a minute to all agree that feeding the cat can only be a good thing. Beggars can't be choosers, right?

- Reply
AMKitsune: Considering that we don't live in a world where you can cure any ailment by simply chugging a potion, this is very sound advice.

- Reply
AMKitsune: @bluedraggy: Now that you've uploaded it, I'm even gladder that you were working on your own version. While it's simpler, it's also much brighter and more colourful than my version. I particularly like the highlights on the bubbles and how you removed the line work on the 'splash'. It's quite amazing how different the same picture can feel in two different styles, isn't it?

I'm also regretting not putting a thin strip of green on her tail now as well XD. I was struggling with finding ways to break up the brown monotony as it was, but that never occurred to me!

- Reply
AMKitsune: @bluedraggy: Finish iiiiittttt!

- Reply
AMKitsune: @KuroNeko: Thanks! To me, it looks like Quill has those transparent, second eyelids that water dwelling lizards have, so I added a slight, translucent grey over her eyes to make them look slightly misted up.

- Reply
AMKitsune: @KuroNeko: You can't be too hard on her. Quill-weaves body is naturally hydro-dynamic. Katia probably has the absorbency of a dry sponge! (and the grace to match. Being decked out in full mage attire won't be helping either...)

AMKitsune: @Zargothrax: Images tend to be featured for a month (with a new one being chosen at the start of the month). Events like Halloween and Christmas can screw that up a bit, so we often feature images for them a few days ahead of the normal schedule and then replace them a little over a month later. We could just feature them for a day or 2, but that wouldn't give them their fair time in the spot light.

- Reply
AMKitsune: I'm not sure exactly what's going on here either, but it's badass, whatever it is!

- Reply
AMKitsune: This is nice, but she really needs to get some diversity in her diet. Chocolate cake is nice as an occasional treat, but she shouldn't neglect the other food groups: plants, dead animals, and living animal by-products. All important for a happy, healthy Katia.

Also, I'm just going to add that I greatly appreciate the little bit of glow coming from the window. It's subtle enough that I didn't notice it at first, but now that I have, I can see why the background feels as good to look at as it does. Really good job.

- Reply
AMKitsune: It's odd seeing a painted Katia in such an on-model style, but you've pulled it off exceedingly well. The shading a colour choices are just lovely.

- Reply
AMKitsune: Simulated jiggle physics aside, this is really well done. The whole scene, the animation, all spot on. The only thing that I think takes away from the animation is the way her sash seems to flick out to the side as she bounces up and down (I don't believe physics works quite like that). Beside that though... I LOVE IT!

- Reply
AMKitsune: @KuroNeko: If you can get a group of 3 other friends to play with, it's a really good game. I've been part of a group that plays for an hour or so every once every couple of days (usually), and it's become the highlight of my evening! You can play it alone, but playing together just takes it to a whole other level.

- Reply
AMKitsune: Now this is a perfect example of why some images should remain static.

- Reply
AMKitsune: @damrok4321: Quentin has little arms and is a figment of Katia's imagination. Scleepy is an illustrated guide to help people learn restoration magic. That's about it really.

- Reply
AMKitsune: @bluedraggy:

Now she has some motion and a shred of decency!

- Reply
AMKitsune: Now this is how you make a meme! Great job.

- Reply
AMKitsune: Your face the moment you realise exactly what that Daedric prince wanted to borrow your arms for...

- Reply
AMKitsune: Well this is amazingly animated!

- Reply
AMKitsune: And this is what happens when Katia discovers that sweet-roles can be made at home. Now she'll have to learn the joys of growing a salad.

- Reply
AMKitsune: @AMKitsune: *Or (I can't type today...)

- Reply
AMKitsune: I love the idea that in a world of scary vampires, when Katia transforms into a bat, it's a fruit bat

- Reply
AMKitsune: @KuroNeko: Of a Khajiitti werewolf that is perpetually stuck mid-transformation. (probably not, but damn, I'm surprisingly proud of that idea. If anyone wants to run with it, go for it!)

- Reply
AMKitsune: @Zerorganic: I'd say the time spent was well worth it. No just for this image alone, but for the fact that you now know how to do something new, and can apply that knowledge in future projects!

Now I can't help but imagine how this scene would look with a more cinematic camera angle, and cell shading.

- Reply
AMKitsune: @_Noxygen_: You're most welcome. I've just checked, and it looks like krita has all the functionality you'd want for this kind of thing. All that remains is for you to dive in and have fun with it. (that's the best, and most important part XD)

- Reply
AMKitsune: @KuroNeko: I second this notion.

- Reply
AMKitsune: @Rick2tails: Don't be so cruel. You know damn well that there's a hard working imp inside that monitor, moving windows around drawing pictures and words as fast as it can. This move to thinner and thinner displays is all good and well for us, but does anyone ever stop to consider the poorer working conditions these poor creatures are being subjected to?

... I didn't think so.

- Reply
AMKitsune: @KuroNeko: I don't really see how this would be particularly questionable. If anything, I think it's quite a lovely scene. Not sure what the significance of the red hoodie is, but it's nice to see her getting a little flustered at being discovered like this. Also, I absolutely love the way you draw plushies. They're simply adorable!

AMKitsune: @_Noxygen_: I don't know what program you're using, but the vast majority of them allow you to draw/paint on different 'layers'. I'd suggest that it's important to keep your lineart and colours on separate layers, so if you make a mistake or change your mind on how you want it to look at any point, you can erase/change the part you want without affecting more than you need to.

Second thing. Whatever program you're using, it quite probably has 'blend modes'. These are options that can be applied to layers (or groups of layers if your program supports 'folders'(or groups, or whatever they're called)) that change how the contents of that layer is drawn over the layers beneath it.

In this example, I put some colours in a folder above your lineart and set the folder's blend mode to linear burn. There's no hard rule as to which mode you have to use. Play around with them to see what looks good to you.

I also darkened the lineart slightly to prevent the colours visibly butting up against each other over the faded lines.

Exactly how you choose to order your layers and what blend modes you use are entirely up to you. The important takeaways are that it's good to keep the various parts of your work separated into layers (for making cleaner changes and additions), and make use of layer/folder blend modes to merge the different parts of your image together.

Hope that's of some help.

AMKitsune: @Bokdan0: No blending, and presumably only a single layer? You utter mad genius!
I'm just going to 'headcanon' this into "so much time has passed since Katia arrived at Kvatch, emperor's have been and gone, but ASOTIL endures. Refusing to let the march of time interfere with his service of the emperor, he battles across the planes of oblivion, but remembering that he never completed that one patrol route, he came back and escorted our feline friend (who also hadn't aged a day (comic logic)) back to Anvil. Katia's lack of clothes? Who can say? She probably got into a fist fight with a mudcrab a couple of minutes before ASOTIL arrived. You know it doesn't have to make sense."

AMKitsune: KuroNeko, I remember seeing the comment suggesting you drew this, but I didn't expect the result to be quite this epic!
@bluedraggy: True story: When this was uploaded the other day, I was tempted to colour it, but decided not to as "Bluedraggy would do a much better job of it than I would, and with something as cool as this, he probably will." I'm so glad I was right :D

AMKitsune: @egliomatn: Ok, the look of sheer joy on this little Katia doodle is infections! She looks so happy, and I'm loving it!

- Reply
AMKitsune: @Zargothrax: It's quite a unique take on her, but a very effective one indeed!

- Reply
AMKitsune: Top left: Aww, seeing this, I share her sadness.
Top right: Don't worry Katia, a quick 5 minute bath in a tub of healing potion and you should be just fine.
Bottom left: Quite possibly the softest looking Katia face I've seen in ages. I imagine she used a hair drier to dry off after her bath for that extra fluffy effect.
Bottom right: Just because she's tiny, don't underestimate her flames. It's probably fine to underestimate everything else though...

- Reply
AMKitsune: Well this is ludicrously adorable. Could this be the face of a Khajiit that's just been told that she's a good competent girl?

- Reply
AMKitsune: I love how everything immediately flips from 'hush hush shady talk' to 'happy happy sunshine stall of lovely things'.
But what if the Alfiq ate some of the pineapple? Would that make it a super drug combo? Would that be too illegal for even this Khajiit-iest of merchants to sell?

- Reply
AMKitsune: @DarthVader: This is exactly the sort of scenario that the blacklist was made for. If you don't like it, you don't have to see it.

AMKitsune: @KuroNeko: Kaz says "just architect is fine"
